Pemberton Maid Marions
Welcome Welcome to the website of the Pemberton Maid Marions, an archery club formed in 2005.We shoot on Wednesday mornings during term time at the Pemberton Centre, Rushden, Northamptonshire. The club has come into to being following the International Women’s Sports Day, organised by the Cultural Community Partnership, held in March 2005. The interest in archery on the day led to archery courses being run and these have evolved into the formation of the club. All through this process we have been assisted and supported by Eric Jackson of the Grand National Archery Association (G.N.A.S.) and Roger Lovesay of Cultural Community Partnerships. The club welcomes women of all ages and abilities, whether you have never shot an arrow before but have always wanted to have a go, or if you already have your own bow and would like a day time opportunity to shoot. The Club is also a good opportunity for those over the age of 10 who are home schooled to take part in a sports activity. At each meeting there is always a G.N.A.S. qualified coach and other experienced archers. We meet on Wednesday mornings in term time only from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. It doesn’t matter if you can’t get there for 9 or have to leave before 11, we are a very relaxed, sociable club. Each session costs £3.00, which covers the cost of hall hire. All equipment is provided. We secured a lottery grant from Awards for All in August 2006 and have used this to enhance the club. Recent Activities Following our outdoor activities over the 2009 summer break, we had a halloween shoot in October - although we did shoot in the daylight - this time we shot at actual pumpkins. In February we had a valentine theme shoot. Club members have also begun to work their way through the GNAS/Fita Arrow Awards. Over Easter we will be outside, guests of the Broad Green Archers, shooting over various distances in preparation for the outdoor summer competitions. For a bit of fun we may try stringing up some small chocolate eggs to aim at. |
