Lower Benefield

Lower Benefield is located on the A427, approximately 3¼ miles west of Oundle and shares a Parish with Upper Benefield, ¾ of a mile to the north. Benefield was recorded in the Domesday Book as Benefeld. St Mary's Church, situated to the east of the Castle mound, has medieval origins and was largely rebuilt in 1847 by John Macduff Derick for the Watts-Russell family. Biggin Hall which is located 1½ miles east of Lower Benefield also has medieval origins, though the core of the house dates from around 1700.
