Welcome to our Village

Collyweston is a small, picturesque village straddling the A43 three miles south of Stamford.  Surrounded by fields, and close to the River Welland, the village lies on the border of four counties.  It has a population of just over 450.

Our village pub, the Collyweston Slater, offers somewhere to stay, with good food and a relaxing astmosphere.

Our welcoming Victorian-built Village Hall – built in 1877 to be the original village school, and smartly refurbished with Grant assistance in 1998.  The ‘new’ school, alas, closed in 1995 and now village children attend schools in nearby villages and towns.

Our church, St Andrews, is small and charming.  The village cemetery, which you can see as you pass through Collyweston on the A43, commands unbeatable views across the Welland Valley towards Ketton and beyond. You should see our sunsets!

Our village magazine called Collyweston News, produced by volunteers, is delivered free to everyone in Collyweston once a month, and as well as carrying village news and events is a handy source of local suppliers and tradespeople.

Our Parish Council meets once a month, in the village hall. 

Every spring the Collyweston Players put on a pantomime in the Village Hall.  And in December they put on a comedy play which is always well supported.  For more about Village Hall events contact Shelagh Busby (01780 444607).

During the summer, the Church runs a village fete, a barbecue and open air concert.  In November it also holds a St Andrews Night Supper in the Village Hall, in honour of its patron saint.  The Playing Field Association (a registered Charity) runs  fundraising events; every couple of years it's a Country Fair which attracts families from all over the East Midlands. This is to raise funds towards the leisure facility improvements planned for the next few years.
